So you plan to explore New York City… the city that never sleeps… and you want to visit all of the “must see” spots?! Here are some of my favorite places to visit, including but not limited to: the obvious classics, fun outdoor adventures, and mouthwatering food joints! ***All pictures are taken by me unless otherwise stated!
So the number one spot on my tour guide would be… well.. okay, we all know what I’m thinking of. The first place that comes to mind when you think of being a tourist in New York City? Duh. TIMES SQUARE. Thousands of people jam packed into one area, taking in all of the views of the lights and buildings. And although you might not want to be a “tourist”, it is an obvious must see that has to be crossed off of your bucket list.
Try to take a clear photo with all of the lights and hundreds of people walking in your direction and this is what happens. But don’t let the lack of photo taking ability stop you! Times Square is home to the area of broadway, some amazing restaurants, and fun places for kids (There are tons of candy stores!!!).
Number two. SEE A SHOW! New York City is known for its incredible broadway shows, and if thats not your thing, there are tons of comedy shows for you. If you don’t have anything to do one night in the city, I HIGHLY recommend a musical or spending the night at a comedy club!

I have been to countless broadway shows in New York City and I have never seen such talent in my life. And contrary to popular belief, the comedians are actually REALLY funny at these comedy shows.
As we all know, September 11th, 2001, was a tragic day for our country. Going to the Freedom Tower is a must. This building is so much more than just a memorial to the Twin Towers.

Next, visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, AKA “The Met.” You will not be disappointed.

We can’t forget Central Park. Take a walk through the City’s greenest area, visit the Central Park Zoo, climb the rocks, take pictures by the water, have a picnic, play frisbee with friends etc. There is something to do for everyone here! And did I mention the views of the surrounding buildings? Stunning.

Head on over to Greenwich Village for some beautiful views. Oh, and to see New York University too, of course.

This right here is Washington Square Park. A MUST see. Here you are guaranteed to see some interesting people putting on shows, standing as sculptures, or just some people trying to sell some cool art. Either way, its awesome. Make sure you stop by here!!!

Passing through NYU, you are sure to get a glance at these adorable, colorful buildings.
Want to get out of the chaos and get a change of scenery? Cross the bridge to Brooklyn. You won’t regret it. First of all, Brooklyn is home to some of the most beautiful apartments and homes I’ve ever seen.

Along with some of the most unique places to live, there are some fun things to do here.
First, stop by the Prospect Zoo and feed some animals!!!

As an animal lover, this place exceeded ALL expectations! But if animals are just not for you, make sure to make your way to Smorgasburg. What is Smorgasburg you might ask? Well, its just one of the BEST food festivals I’ve ever attended. If you’re lucky enough to be in Brooklyn during the months of May-October, you might be able to catch a taste of some of the best food trucks you’ll ever have! Smorgasburg is open every Saturday, has some of the most unique foods to try, and you will definitely not want to miss the views of Manhattan!

Ready to head back across the bridge? Well I’d suggest you come back another morning for breakfast, with an empty stomach. Heres why:

Yep. This is real. RAINBOW bagels. You do NOT want to miss out on a chance to try these. Head over to “The Bagel Store” for some of the craziest, most colorful bagels you’ll ever see.

Okay so you’ve experienced Brooklyn… Now lets cut to the chase. Where should you eat in NYC? Heres where:
Looking for high quality Asian cuisine? Buddakan is the place. As my personal favorite restaurant of all time, Buddakan outdoes itself with their incredible appetizers. Although they’re a little pricey, trying their dumplings is a must. Not sure what to order? Go with the edamame dumplings (pictured below). You won’t be disappointed!

Looking for brunch? Head on over to Palm Court at The Plaza for some amazing small bites and some tea! Unfortunately, this place has a set price for the entire experience, so make sure you plan ahead! Pictured below you will see the setup of The Palm Court and the three course meal they provide along with the tea! You can choose from different varieties of tea flavors!

Have a sweet tooth? You do not want to miss out on a chance to visit the Sugar Factory! Famous for their sweet drinks, this place has some of most UNIQUE candy filled drinks. But don’t mistake this place for just some candy bar. Their food here is DELICIOUS. Don’t believe me? Have a look for yourself.

Yes, this is a mac & cheese burger and it was PHENOMENAL.
When most people think of China Town they think of vendors on the streets selling illegal knock offs and some Chinese food places. Wrong. When I go to China Town, I go for the awesome food experiences. Whether its 10 Below Ice Cream which usually has an hour long line, or the amazing crepe place next door, China Town has a lot to offer. Pictured here is my Nutella, strawberry and banana crepe from Swirl Crepes. They have sweet and savory crepes and they are truly mouthwatering.

Looking for a hip diner with a Ukranian flare? Veselka is the place for you. Located on the lower East side, you will find this cute little hang out where they serve up some of the best pierogi’s I’ve ever had. Every time I’ve gone they’ve had a new pierogi on the menu to try and they are always having competitions for people to create new ones!

Next on my list there is Dominique Ansel’s Bakery. I believe I originally saw this place on TV somewhere before I tracked it down, but wow, I was amazed. This place is serving up some of the coolest little deserts I’ve ever seen including cookie shots and fried smores! Check it out below!

We can’t forget Italian food. Italian food is my favorite genre of food and I can never get enough of pasta. So where do I go for some of the best pasta in the City? Parm NYC. Try the Rigatoni Fra Diavola and you’ll see why!

Last but definitely not least, if you never get sick of Italian food (like me), head over to Little Italy. This little town is beautiful and is home to some exquisite, authentic Italian cuisine. All of the antipasto, pasta and pizza you could ask for!

Hopefully your New York City trip will include lots of walking, lots of exploring and lots of eating! I hope you find this guide helpful and I wish you the best of luck on your New York City trip!
